Dacotah Performance Horses

Located in a small and quiet rural setting, the hamlet of Dacotah is a half-mile off of the Trans Canada highway, only 15 minutes from Winnipeg's West Perimiter. The 16 stall barn and arena is spacious and quiet. A great place with lots of room to tack-up or just hang-out with friends.

Sarah Southwell

Sarah has been involved with horses her whole life. A native of Southern Alberta, where she grew up on a farm in a strong horse community, Sarah quickly engulfed herself in the equine industry. She's trained under professionals for everything from reining to dressage. She's worked at camps in the mountains and rode at brandings in the foot hills. She's shown in Hunter, western pleasure, showmanship, halter, trail, reining, equitation and working cow horse. She's competed at rodeos for pole bending, barrel racing and goat tying. She's also trained horses for reenactments of the musical ride.

At the age of 14 she began working as an assistant trainer, where Sarah learned how start young horses, manage equine nutrition, and care for long yearling thoroughbreds for the race track. Four years later, she started her own business teaching lessons and training horses. Soon after running her small business, she managed a custom breeding facility, where she cared for all 40 anaimals, taught lessons and trained horses.

Since than, she's moved to Manitoba where she's become an established figure in the Manitoba equine industry. She's taught horsemanship lessons for all levels of riders. Safety for the student and the animal are the most important keys. She will implement these phillosiphies in everything Dacotah Performance Horses does - whether that's boarding, lessons, training or breeding.

Sarah is a Certified Coach through the CHA in english and western diciplines. Look out for horsemanship clinics and riding events from DPH in 2010.
